Key Responsibilities:
Carry out play-based and functional activities designed by a registered occupational therapist.
Assist occupational therapists to provide treatment through the therapeutic use of activities addressing skills such as fine motor, bilateral motor coordination, visual perceptual, ocular motor, muscle tone or strength, sensory processing, body awareness (proprioceptive sense), handwriting, gross motor and primitive reflexes, and feeding
Provide guidance, education, consultation to the clients, their caregivers and other professionals to optimize outcomes and carryover
Attend regularly scheduled team meetings to discuss policies and operational guidelines, caseload management, opportunities for improvement, and ideas for future services
Participate in regular meetings with supervisor
Document all treatments in an accurate, confidential and timely manner within the electronic system or other approved format.
Perform as Client Lead to serve as the primary communicator and coordinator with the family and treatment team
Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and client meetings and maintain open lines of communication among team members while observing HIPAA standards
Maintain professional knowledge of treatment practices, techniques and supplies in order to provide clients with the best treatment available
Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, efficient and kid friendly environment
All other duties as assigned by the management team as needed
Observe policies and operational guidelines and utilize good time management to complete tasks
Qualifications:
Education: Must have completed an associate degree program from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program and be certified by the National Board of Certification.
Licensure:Must hold a current Missouri License through the Missouri State Board of Healing Arts (Missouri Division of Professional Registration). Must be in compliance with federal, state and local requirements specifically
Experience: Pediatric experience is required.
Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and stand for long periods. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Transportation: Reliable transportation is required.
